As a mom of young boys who have not started school yet, I started using essential oils as I wanted a natural method to help keep my family healthy. My primary use for the essential oils was for my youngest son, but they quickly became my primary tool to help me deal with all the chaos of raising two young boys.

I am a type-A introvert, so I don’t deal well with the busyness and neediness of boys. I reach my max very quickly, and diffusing essential oils or applying some calming and grounding blends of essential oils on my wrists and behind my ears allows for me to get through the tough moments with a calmer voice and more reason.

As I continued to learn more about therapeutic grade essential oils,
I started to incorporate them into my massage practice.

Therapeutic grade essential oils are 100% pure. When nothing artificial has been added to an essential oil we have nothing but their amazing therapeutics qualities to enjoy. Adding therapeutic grade essential oils into my massage practice has allowed for my clients to enjoy their massage treatments even more, as they leave feeling more relaxed and with less soft tissue tension than before.

I was always hesitant to use essential oils in my massage practice because so many people are sensitive to scents.

I am not hesitant to use essential oils in my practice anymore, as I understand that when you use therapeutic grade oils you don’t have to be concerned with a sensitivity.

- I believe that being a mom is an extremely hard and unrewarding job. Moms will go to extremes to provide only the best for their family at the cost of their own health and happiness. Moms are craving some quick solutions for self care and stress relief.

- I believe there is a large movement towards avoiding the use of toxic chemical products. With this movement we are looking for all the best natural health solutions for ourselves and our families.

- I believe that being a Registered Massage Therapist is a very physically demanding profession, and many fear how long they will last in their profession. Many RMT’s eventually are looking for a method to extend their career by adding another holistic health practice into their profession.

- I believe that RMT’s can be comfortable adding another holisitic modality into their practice. I once was an RMT who wasn't sure how to incorporate essential oils into my practice, but I now don’t know what I would do without them.

I believe why so many people respond to these beautiful bottles of oils is for what they represent.

They represent options.

Essential oils provide joy and happiness when emotions and moods are anything but.

Essential oils provide an opportunity to take control over your own health, where you and your family can live a happy healthy life with amazing natural health solutions easy accessible to you.

If you are an Registered Massage Therapist who has been working for almost 10 years and are starting to worrying about what your future will hold, essential oils provide options that will help you to continue to be your own boss and extend your career.

You don't have feel stuck and powerless.

For me essential oils started as a natural solution to help my youngest son.  Today they've become a complete lifestyle change for me and my family.

They have become the first choice for all of our family needs.  I love that I have been able to remove toxic chemicals from my house and I love that essential oils are easy to use.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds that are extracted and distilled from bark, seeds, flowers or leaves of the plant and used for health benefits. What makes essential oils unique for each plant is that they contain the volatile compounds that give rise to the aroma of a plant or flower.

It’s also important to note that these extracts are highly concentrated. It can take thousands of pounds of plant material to produce just one pound of essential oil. In many cases, the essential oil of an herb is hundreds of times more concentrated than a dried herb itself. For example, 1 drop of peppermint essential oil is equivalent to 28 cups of peppermint tea!

One of the most powerful ways to experience essential oils is through simple inhalation, either straight from the bottle or with an essential oil diffuser.

When the essential oils hit the olfactory cells in the nasal cavity, essential oil molecules bind to receptor sites. The olfactory cells then send signals to limbic system of brain.

The limbic area regulates memory, emotions, hormones, blood pressure, heart rate and elevation of endorphines and neurotransmitters (for example, seratonin and dopamine). What happens here is what makes essential oils so special. My favourite use of essential oils is through my diffuser.

Not all essential oils are created equal. In fact it is important to note that there is NO committee or governing body that regulates essential oils, their purity or the claims made by many essential oil companies.

It's very important that you use only pure, therapeutic grade essential oils that are sourced around the globe where they grow abundantly and in their natural environment (that's where the magic lives).

It's also important to choose a company that you can trust, that is doing their diligence to provide you with access to the very best quality our beautiful earth provides.

Essential Oils are so powerful and are being researched in depth. One of my fave resources is Aromatic Science - you can find tons of research that is happening!
