In late 2021, after having 225+ students in my online course teaching wellness entrepreneurs how to brand their business and build their own DIY Squarespace website, and mentoring and coaching about marketing and growing an online business, I was feeling burned out. For years I had wanted to dive deeper into custom Squarespace websites, but I didn’t have time to do both coaching and website design. So I made the big decision to retire my online course, shut down my group coaching programs, and focus 100% on website design services!

Of course that meant my current website had to completely change, and after learning how to do hard core custom code in Squarespace and becoming a Squarespace developer, I used myself as a guinea pig.

Gone were the multiple opt-ins and evergreen funnels, and in came a focus on booking web design and Squarespace development projects.

Within a week of launching, I booked my first $10,000+ project, so I can confidently say my new website has already paid for itself!

My business will continue to evolve as I experiment with what exactly my custom services are, as well as the introduction of templates and VIP days, but the bones of my brand and website will always include bright, bold colours and typography, and high-end photos.

To add some unexpected touches that you rarely see on a Squarespace website, I added split sections, a sidebar that remains fixed on the screen during scrolling, and section borders.

I didn’t want a navigation on the top of the website, even on desktop, so I condensed it into a hamburger menu, and custom coded a full screen menu when it’s expanded, no matter what type of device it’s being viewed on. I also added a button around the “Work with me” call to action to increase views to my services.

Squarespace blog pages can be boring, and I wanted to show something completely different. Enter: the blog grid. Automatic features in Squarespace, such as the older and newer pagination menu at the bottom, are still accessible as usual.

Split video sections

I have the pleasure of being married to a videographer who joins me on photoshoots to collect amazing video clips. I wanted to showcase these to create movement and a custom feel, which I did in full width video banner sections, as well split width video sections.
